L’Équipe understands that Juventus and several clubs in the Bundesliga are interested in taking Abdoulaye Camara (16) away from Montpellier HSC.
The defensive midfielder who captains the France U17s came close to making his debut for Montpellier this season under former head coach Jean-Louis Gasset. Camara, who was on the bench for the 2-0 defeat to OGC Nice in February, was about to come off the bench, but an injury to Tanguy Coulibaly (24) forced Gasset to scrap this change.
It now looks as if Camara will take his first steps into the professional game away from his home country and his formative club. With one year left on his youth contract, Montpellier, who are set to play in Ligue 2 from next season, would receive a fee for his transfer.
Montpellier are set to finish the season at the bottom of the Ligue 1 table. The club travel to the Stade de la Beaujoire to face FC Nantes in the final match of the season. It’s a game that could have ramifications on the relegation battle as Nantes sit only two points above Le Havre AC in the relegation playoff spot.
