At the end of a busy Englische Woche in the Bundesliga, the clubs again served up several talking points. From incredible comebacks to a five-goal thriller as well as an even tighter relegation battle – here is your recap and talking points from matchday 18 in the Bundesliga.

Bochum Stun Leipzig

RB Leipzig looked set to take all three points at Bochum when they went in at the break 0-3 to the good. However, with an inspired second-half display and nothing to lose, Bochum pulled it back to 3-3 to ensure they took a crucial point. Striker Myron Boadu scored all three goals for Bochum, taking his season tally from 5 to 8 in the space of 45 minutes. Dieter Hecking’s Bochum side has shown determination to get themselves out of trouble since Christmas. They finally won their first game just before the winter break and have now lost just once in their last five Bundesliga matches. The draw keeps Bochum within 3 points of Heidenheim in 16th. For the Saxons, the dropped points mean they’re now outside the Champions League places in 5th. What’s also crucial to remember with Bochum is that they could yet be handed three points from their game against Union Berlin, which they lost 2-0. Depending an appeal from Union, the DFL could awarded the points to Bochum which would take them to 13 points.

More BVB Misery

On Friday evening, Eintracht Frankfurt ensured that BVB would remain winless in 2025 and inflict their third Bundesliga defeat in a row. Goals from Hugo Ekitike and Oscar Højlund either side of the half provided a solid win for Frankfurt and keeps them in 3rd place on 36 points. The loss piles even more pressure on BVB coach Nuri Şahin as reports suggest the club are looking for potential replacements. Two names already in the race for the job include recent Benfica boss Roger Schmidt and Erik ten Hag who has been spotted at BVB home games over the last few weeks. Dortmund are now in the bottom half of the table and face a massive game in the Champions League on Tuesday evening against Italian side Bologna. Rumours suggest that Şahin will be sacked if they fail to win.

Around The Grounds

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen both won at home to ensure that the two clubs remain the only ones competing for the title. Bayern remain 4 points clear after overcoming a late VfL Wolfsburg surge to win 3-2 whilst B04 beat neighbours Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-1.

St. Pauli earned a massive three points on the road as they beat relegation rivals FC Heidenheim 0-2. The win moves St. Pauli into 14th and 3 points clear of Heidenheim in 16th. Up next for Pauli is another six-pointer against Union Berlin.
