Jeremy Sarmiento was quick to react to Leeds United's loss to Burnley at Elland Road.

Burnley defeated Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday lunchtime to end the Whites' unbeaten start to the league campaign - and loanee winger Jeremy Sarmiento could not resist landing a social media blow to the Yorkshire outfit.

The hosts should have been ahead early on, but Mateo Joseph dragged a shot wide after turning the ball over from good pressure on the halfway line following a Maxime Esteve mistake.

Leeds were made to pay for that when Luca Koleosho’s broke away in transition to ensure Burnley got back to winning ways to hand Leeds their first Championship defeat of the season.

Koleosho capitalised on Manor Solomon’s unfortunate slip and ran the length of the pitch before finishing well with a low shot across goal and beyond goalkeeper Illan Meslier to end his side's two-game winless league run after a draw to Blackburn Rovers and a loss to Sunderland in their previous fixtures.

James Trafford was rarely made to work despite plenty of Leeds possession and territory but made one save of real note from a Willy Gnonto chance to equalise, whilst Ethan Ampadu and Joseph went close in the second half.

The visitors ended the game with 10 men after Bashir Humphreys was sent off for a second yellow deep into stoppage time after picking up a second yellow card but the hosts could not take advantage on a wasteful and frustrating afternoon for Daniel Farke.

Leeds lost just twice at Elland Road last season in the league as they made it a fortress for all but the final two league games, where they lost to Blackburn and Southampton.

Burnley were able to sit in and soak up pressure with few meaningful chances created by Leeds, and a packed and well-organised Clarets defence withstanding relentless pressure in the second half, where Burnley did not register a single attempt of their own.

Jeremy Sarmiento recently signed for the club on a season-long loan deal from Brighton, and he was introduced from the bench at Elland Road with 26 minutes still to play after coming on late against Blackburn in his first game prior to the international break.

And following the massive win for Scott Parker's side, Sarmiento took to X to aim a jibe at currently suffering Leeds side.

Leeds United's defeat to Burnley at Elland Road raises serious question

The Whites are still in a strong position after they missed out on promotion, and although there are challenges Farke needs to find better answers for, he could be the right man for the role in many ways.

Leeds have started to struggle when teams compact the middle of the pitch or sit deep in a low block, and solutions can be found both tactically and in the transfer market. However, they failed to acquire a central playmaker who is capable of breaking lines and progressing the ball consistently.

Farke has won the league twice at this level, and finished in third during his other full season last term. But he will need to find answers for teams like Burnley who take the lead and then sit in to protect it.

Burnley and Sarmiento will hope to build on this win, in what was likely to be one of their most difficult fixtures of the campaign. It's a huge three points for Scott Parker and a statement early on in the season.
