Darko Churlinov is reportedly in talks over a move to Jagiellona Białystok

Burnley winger Darko Churlinov is reportedly in advanced talks join Jagiellona Białystok of the Polish top-flight, with a deal appearing close.

This is according to a recent report from Meczyki's Tomasz Włodarczyk, who claims that Białystok are in advanced talks to sign Churlinov on loan although further details still need to be ironed out with Burnley first.

Scott Parker will be keen to conduct a squad clearout of sorts across the month ahead of a bid to return Burnley to the Premier League at the very first time of asking, and they're particularly overloaded in wide areas. In the goalkeeping department, meanwhile, trio Arijanet Muric, Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Lawrence Vigouroux have all left for Ipswich Town, Birmingham City and Swansea City respectively, with Vaclav Hladky and James Trafford set to battle it out between the sticks this season.

Burnley's current squad contains well over 30 senior first-team players, though, and it will be of importance both financially and in terms of keeping the group happy to sanction further sales before the summer transfer window slams shut at the end of August.

Churlinov appears poised to depart one way or another, having only made 13 appearances for the Clarets following his arrival from VfB Stuttgart two years ago.

Włodarczyk's report reveals that Jagiellonia have already struck an agreement with Churlinov, who is said to be keen on the move to Poland. The report refers to "advanced talks", which could imply that a deal is not too far away from being completed if all goes to plan.

However, it adds that Burnley are still in talks with Jagiellonia pertaining to "the rules" of loaning Churlinov to the Ekstraklasa outfit. The specification of such rules isn't outlined in the report, though.

Jagiellonia lifted the Ekstraklasa league title for the first time in their history last term, seeing off the likes of Slask Wroclaw and Legia Warszawa by tallying 63 points from 34 fixtures. Their triumph means that, if he signs, Churlinov will at least feature in the Europa Conference League next term, although they face Bodø/Glimt in the second round of their Champions League qualification campaign on Wednesday evening.

The move would represent a second successive loan spell away from Turf Moor for Churlinov, who featured on ten occasions for Schalke in Bundesliga 2 in the previous season.

While a loan exit is partially beneficial, Burnley really should be looking to sell Churlinov instead.

He simply hasn't realised his potential and kicked on at all with Burnley in two seasons now, and while he hasn't been provided with ample opportunity to do so, it's hard to see that changing anytime soon.

The Clarets already have eight senior, tried-and-tested wingers in the building, including supremely-talented operators in Wilson Odobert, Luca Koleosho and Anass Zaroury. Even someone like Scott Twine, who too feels set to be moved on in the coming weeks, appears to be ahead of Churlinov in both his development and Parker's pecking order, so it doesn't make much sense for Burnley to loan him out again when he clearly doesn't have much of a future in Lancashire.
