Burnley have confirmed the signing of Leyton Orient goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux following a stellar campaign in League Two.

The 29-year-old becomes Burnley’s third signing of the Premier League transfer window after Jordan Beyer and Dara O’Shea.

Vigouroux joins the Clarets on a free transfer after seeing out his contract with Orient. He has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at Turf Moor until 2026.

“It’s amazing to be here,” Vigouroux said after signing on the dotted line. “An unbelievable training ground to be a part of, and I’m really happy.

“You only have to look around where we’re working and training every day. This was the right step and the right way to go. Hopefully, I can leave an impression here.”

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany added: “We are looking forward to Lawrence being part of what we are building here at Burnley.

“He has come through top academy systems to become the player he is today with stand-out performances in recent years.

“He is a very talented goalkeeper with a good personality and someone we will enjoy working with.”

Vigouroux played an important role in Orient’s league-winning campaign last season, helping the club to secure promotion to the English third tier with 24 clean sheets in 45 appearances.

His impressive performances for Richie Wellens’ side saw him voted into the League Two Team of the Season, but Orient’s achievement was not enough to convince the goalkeeper to sign a new deal at Brisbane Road.

Having completed two transfers, Burnley will be looking forward to adding more recruits to Kompany’s squad as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.

They will hope to have a competitive squad in place before they welcome Premier League champions Manchester City to Turf Moor for the 2023-24 season curtain raiser on August 11.
