Burnley, West Brom, Hull City and Norwich City are all tracking Lincoln City's Ethan Erhahon.
Burnley and West Brom are among the Championship clubs keeping tabs on Lincoln City’s Ethan Erhahon ahead of the January window.
The midfielder joined the Imps in January 2023, and he has blossomed into a top talent over the past 18 months, with his performances earning him the Player of the Year accolade at the club as they just missed out on the play-offs.
And, it appears he has caught the eye of clubs in the Championship, as TBR Football has claimed that Burnley, Albion, Norwich and Hull are all keeping tabs on the player, and they are considering offers in the New Year.
Lincoln have been transformed since Michael Skubala’s appointment, and Erhahon is integral to what the manager wants to do.
The 23-year-old is very comfortable in possession, he is clever with his positioning, and he is the sort of midfielder that could flourish when playing for a better side.
Of course, Lincoln will hope that he remains with them for at least this season, as they have big ambitions, but the club have previously acknowledged that Erhahon is a player who is destined to play at a higher level.
Director of Football Jez George revealed in the past that he expects Erhahon to command a club-record fee when he is sold on.
Meanwhile, the update states that Lincoln are not going to stand in his way if a suitable offer does arrive, as they recognise the importance of allowing individuals to progress in their careers.
It remains to be seen whether the four clubs mentioned do formalise their interest with a bid, and it would be no surprise if further interest emerges in Erhahon over the next few months if he continues to impress in League One.
Another factor that makes him such an attractive option to clubs is that he is only 23.
Therefore, he is someone who is still some way off his peak, and with the right coaching and development, there is still so much scope for him to get better.
That will excite those interested, and he is someone that could continue to rise in value over the coming years.
Many recruitment teams up and down the country are looking for individuals that could be sold on again in the future, with Burnley, for example, having generally targeted younger players in the past 12-18 months as part of their strategy.
So, Erhahon fits the bill, and whilst Lincoln would rightly command a decent fee, he should still be cheap by the standards of Championship clubs.
Obviously, the January window is a way away, and whilst it may be difficult, the immediate priority for Erhahon is to continue doing what he’s doing for the Imps.
They are seventh in the table going into the weekend fixtures, and even though it’s a ridiculously competitive League One this season, they will feel a play-off finish is achievable.
So, Erhahon will be concentrating on helping the team, and he will be aware he must continue to perform if offers are to arrive when the window opens in 2025.
