Fabio Capello warns there is one area of the pitch that will be decisive for Milan’s Champions League clash with Liverpool. ‘Both are very attacking, but cannot defend.’

It kicks off at San Siro at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

Capello analyses Milan vs. Liverpool

Capello, who won the Champions League on the bench of Milan in 1994, is now a pundit on Sky Sport Italia and gave his analysis of where the game will be won and lost.

“The left flank of Milan and the right flank of Liverpool will be the most important,” said Capello.

“When the right side of Liverpool attacks, it is very strong. The same goes for Milan, as they have creativity and quality in those areas.

“However, both those Milan and Liverpool sets of players cannot defend.”

The players who will be facing off down that side of the pitch are Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao for Milan, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah for Liverpool.

This is the opening round of the new and expanded Champions League, which has 36 teams in just one big table, each playing eight different opponents.

The Rossoneri begin at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza against Arne Slot’s Liverpool, who are fresh off a 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
