Carlo Ancelotti is reported to be considering his future as Real Madrid manager following contact from Brazil.
Ancelotti is currently contracted to Madrid until the summer of 2026 as has previously insisted that his departure from the club will never be his decision, vowing to leave only when president Florentino Perez decides to move in a different direction.
Now, however, The Athletic state that is no longer the case. Ancelotti is said to have grown tired of the drama that comes with leading one of the world's biggest clubs and is now considering his options.
Ancelotti believes some inside Madrid have been leaking information to the press to cast doubt on his future, while he is also well aware of the club's contact with Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso, who has long been lined up as their dream replacement for Ancelotti.
Leverkusen director Simon Rolfes recently insisted Alonso has already vowed to remain this summer. Like Ancelotti, he is also contracted until 2026.
Further contributing to Ancelotti's unease is the impending departure of his son Davide, who also works as his assistant in the Madrid dugout. The younger Ancelotti is planning to depart this summer and embark on his own managerial career, and the suggestion is that could impact Carlo's thinking when it comes to his future.
With all this going on, Ancelotti has once again been contacted by Brazil - talks which he has denied publicly - who are looking to hire a new boss before this summer's Club World Cup begins to help them continue their bid to qualify for the World Cup.
Ancelotti, seen as the "dream" hire for Brazil, may have to walk away from Madrid before the Club World Cup if he wants to join the South American giants. Bernabeu officials are thought to be confident that will not happen, but there could be a nervous few weeks while the Italian decides his next move.
