Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has praised Jude Bellingham's "balls" and "character" after he confronted teammate Vinicius Junior in the 2-1 win over Celta Vigo on Saturday.

The incident occurred near the end of the first half when Madrid were 1-0 up. Vinicius had the opportunity to square the ball to Bellingham for what looked like a certain goal, but instead opted to have a pop at goal himself to no avail. Bellingham was visibly furious after Vinicius' effort on goal, being caught on camera venting his fury in his teammate's direction.

Vinicius would later make amends by scoring the winning goal in the second half, latching onto a stunning pass from Luka Modric in order to do so.

During his post match press conference, Ancelotti was asked to give his thoughts on the incident between his two star players.

"I haven't seen that play you're talking about," he admitted. "But if it has happened, it means that [Bellingham] has balls, character, and it seems good to me.

"Honestly, I didn't realise the play [had happened], I'll watch it. But if he has reacted... let's be calm, after the game they were talking, laughing. They have no problems."

Ancelotti also gave his thoughts on what proved to be a tricky game for Los Blancos on Saturday evening, with his side gifting Celta a number of chances to take a point from the clash.

"The merit we have is that we always compete well, until the end. We could have played better, yes, but the group was committed and knew how to suffer, because Celta also competed well, with intensity.

"We took three important points thanks to a fantastic pass from Modric [to Vincius]. It's something normal for him, because of his enormous quality. Luka always contributes, whether he is a starter or coming off the bench. He has such great quality, that it always adds up."

Real Madrid's next La Liga game will be against arch El Clasico rivals Barcelona on Sunday evening.
