The participants of the 2022 Supercopa do Brasil were finally announced and the title will be disputed between Atlético Mineiro and Flamengo.
Galo secured classification by winning both the Copa do Brasil and the 2021 Brasileirão while Flamengo were awarded the spot due to finishing runner-up in the Brasileirão.
The match is scheduled for February 20th and the CBF is already starting to plan the showcase for the public and nearly moved the game out of Brazil.
According to information from Itatiaia radio, the CBF attempted to take the match to the United States, more precisely to Orlando, where a large population of Brazilians reside.
However, both clubs rejected the idea and opted for the dispute to be held on national soil in order to facilitate logistics, according to the Minas Gerais board.
As happened in recent years, the game should take place at the Mané Garrincha, in Brasília, although this has not been officially announced.
Regarding the award, which has not yet been defined, the expectation is that it will be R$5m ($870,000) for the team that wins and R$2m ($350,000) for the runner-up.
