Monumental Welsh Women’s mission is to recognise the contribution of women to the history and life of Wales and they have played a pivotal role in ensuring Welsh women’s stories are etched into the nation’s landscape.

They have delivered groundbreaking statues across the country, including the Betty Campbell Monument in Cardiff, the statue of Elaine Morgan in Mountain Ash and the statue of Cranogwen in Llangrannog – with a Lady Rhondda statue to be unveiled in Newport later this month on 26 September.

As part of this season’s Genero Adran Premier launch, players from all eight of the league’s clubs engaged in meaningful discussions about the work of Monumental Welsh Women with founding member Professor Meena Upadhyaya and visited the iconic Betty Campbell statue in the capital.

The Genero Adran Premier aims to empower, showcase and develop the talent of women across Wales, a mission that shares strong parallels with the work of Monumental Welsh Women.

Helen Molyneux, Chair of Monumental Welsh Women, said: “Monumental Welsh Women is proud to collaborate with the Genero Adran Premier and the FAW. The league is a shining example of our present day monumental Welsh women, and of providing a platform and opportunities for female talent and achievement.

“The women of the league are hugely inspirational and together with the women from Welsh history we’re working to commemorate, provide wonderful role-models for Welsh girls and young women today.”

Jack Sharp, FAW Head of Domestic Leagues, commented on the collaboration: “It is fantastic for the Genero Adran Premier to have collaborated with Monumental Welsh Women as we continue to enhance the profile of the league and celebrate the trailblazers who have shaped Welsh history.

“By honouring the legacies of remarkable women like Betty Campbell and linking the stories of these historic figures with the players of today, we aim to inspire further generations to push boundaries and achieve greatness. We now look forward to an exciting and competitive 24/25 season.”

The 2024/25 Genero Adran Premier season begins on Sunday 15 September. Find all of the fixtures here.
