The powers that be at Celta Vigo have agreed on the terms of a deal to sign Unai Núñez from La Liga rivals Athletic Club, on a permanent basis.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who has today provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes at Balaídos.
Defender Núñez, for his part, linked up with Celta Vigo last summer, as part of a season-long loan from the aforementioned Athletic.
And he has since gone on to play an absolutely integral role for Rafael Benítez’s side, featuring from the off in all but one of the club’s 27 La Liga outings.
In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear that the decision has already been taken at Balaídos, to make Núñez’s signing a permanent one.
As per the aforementioned Fabrizio Romano:
‘Celta Vigo have agreed [a] deal to sign Unai Núñez on [a] permanent transfer from Athletic. It’s all done, set to be announced soon.’
The transfer is understood to be worth a fee in the region of €10 million, including add-ons.
The once-capped Spanish international will now put pen to paper on a five-year contract with Celta, through the summer of 2029.
