Celta Vigo star set for a spell on the sidelines with injury | OneFootball

La Liga outfit Celta Vigo have this weekend been dealt a blow on the personnel front.

This comes amid confirmation that defender Javier Manquillo is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.

Full-back Manquillo played his part on Saturday, as Celta made the trip to Power Horse Stadium for a La Liga meeting with Espanyol.

En route to an eventual 3-1 defeat for the Celestes, however, the one-time Newcastle United man suffered an injury setback.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘RC Celta defender Javier Manquillo , injured in Saturday’s league match against Espanyol, has a “high-grade” sprain in his left ankle.’

Though no official confirmation of the extent of the absence awaiting Manquillo has been provided, the expectation is that he will be unavailable for selection for at least a week.

As much means that the 30-year-old will not be at the disposal of boss Claudio Giráldez for upcoming fixtures against Salamanca, and RCD Mallorca.
