A decent bit of time has passed since the Glasgow Derby and the dust has settled on that result. That being said, it is hard to imagine that the Celtic players would have forgotten the manner of their loss or the celebrations following Hamza Igamane's late winner. From the sound of it, Brendan Rodgers certainly has not.

For the first time in almost five years, the Rangers won at Parkhead. It also marked a second consecutive Glasgow Derby win for them. While celebrating Igamane's winner, Vaclav Cerny appeared to splash water from his bottle towards the Celtic fans in the stands.

It was the cause of major controversy after the game. There were rumours about an eight-game ban coming Cerny's way but nothing has materialised in that regard so far.

Rodgers has finally given his take on the matter while talking to the media recently. As reported by The Irish News, he said:

"It’s respect, isn’t it? I think it’s a lack of respect if somehow a player runs up a touchline and he’s squirting a water bottle in a supporter’s face. I certainly wouldn’t want my players to do it.“Listen, it works both ways, a lot comes into players as well, from the stands, to coaches, managers and players.“But I think we all know there’s a line that we shouldn’t cross."

Celtic fans will be left disappointed if Cerny does not face any punishment from the SFA for his actions at Parkhead. But considering the lack of noise surrounding the issue in recent days, that scenario is very much a possibility.

Celtic's focus has to be on figuring out what has been going wrong for them against the Rangers in recent Glasgow Derbies. They have lost two straight and conceded a staggering nine goals over the past three meetings between the two sides.

So, the gap between the two teams on the pitch is clearly not as wide as the points table might suggest, where Celtic sit comfortably ahead of their Glasgow rivals. This should give the Hoops enough reason to go out and strengthen significantly in the summer, even if they are successful in winning another domestic treble by the end of this campaign.
