Celtic star Reo Hatate was ‘an absolute steal’ when the Glasgow giants succeeded in welcoming him to Parkhead, according to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph.

The Bhoys are currently top of the Scottish Premiership table and the midfielder has played a key role in the club’s recent success.

What’s the latest news involving Hatate?

Hatate completed a move to Celtic from J-League side Kawasaki Frontale when the January transfer window opened for business earlier this year.

It is understood that he made the switch to Scotland for £1.4million and, thanks to being in fine form, will have an eye on the upcoming World Cup.

The one-cap Japan international will be hoping to secure a place on the flight to Qatar next month even though he was not given any game-time during the recent break from domestic football.

Hatate has wasted no time making an impression at Celtic and, having enjoyed success in his homeland, won the Scottish Premiership last season.

The 24-year-old has also caught the eye of his peers, with Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn describing him as 'outrageous' shortly after his arrival at Parkhead.

What has Anthony Joseph said about Hatate?

Joseph believes Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou deserves plenty of praise for discovering Hatate and ensuring he headed to Glasgow.

The Sky Sports reporter feels the Bhoys are in line to make a significant profit on the central midfielder if he eventually moves into pastures new.

When asked whether Hatate is now worth considerably more than the fee Celtic paid for his services, Joseph told GIVEMESPORT: "Definitely.

"I think Hatate was an absolute steal. I really thought Hatate was going to have a big season and would prove to be one of Celtic's best players."

How has Hatate performed so far this season?

Hatate played a pivotal role in Celtic overcoming Motherwell earlier this month, with him netting what proved to be the winner.

He has made 10 appearances since the campaign got underway and also grabbed an assist as the Bhoys got their first Champions League group stage point on the board by sealing a draw against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Statistics show Hatate has averaged 0.41 goal contributions per 90 minutes this term and Postecoglou will be hoping that figure will only increase as he chases down more silverware.

Since his arrival, the Japanese star has enjoyed 31 outings and registered five goals, along with the same number of assists, so it is clear he was a shrewd investment.
