Celtic legend Neil Lennon could be set for a return to Scottish football with an offer on the table from Dunfermline Athletic. The East End Park side sacked Michael Tidser after just 11 games in charge but Lennon has emerged as a favourite to take over with The Pars.
According to Mail Online, the Irishman is on the brink of accepting an offer from the Scottish Championship side.
The 53-year-old has been out of work since the beginning of the season after parting ways with Rapid Bucharest. Lennon has reportedly received a bumper offer from the Fife club to bring him to the Championship side.
Lennon was a successful player with Celtic having joined from Leicester City. As a player, Lenny was part of Martin O’Neill’s side that turned the tide in Glasgow, helping Celtic become the dominant force, something he would continue across two spells as a manager.
It is perhaps surprising that Lennon is taking the step down to the Championship but there is no doubting the size of Dunfermline. The surprise probably comes in the timing of the move. John Hughes took over in a similar position a few years ago and was relegated to League One.
