Celtic’s search for back-up to top scorer Odsonne Édouard has led them to a pair of proven English veterans.

Although the Hoops have been linked closest to Slovenian standout Andraž Šporar of Slovan Bratislava and talks remain ongoing, there are two new names on their radar.

The first, per the Mail on Sunday, is Brighton forward Glenn Murray, who is now 35 and out of contract at the end of the season.

It would likely only be a loan move for the former Bournemouth marksman, who is also being pursued by Nottingham Forest.

Speaking after his side’s FA Cup loss to Sheffield Wednesday, manager Graham Potter confirmed he would not stand in Murray’s way if he seeks a change of scenery.

In addition, the Scottish champions are also being linked with a swoop for Billy Sharp of Sheffield United.

That is according to the Sunday Post, who claim the Hoops are monitoring the 33-year-old’s situation with interest due to his lack of game time with the Blades.

It is claimed that a move for either Murray or Sharp would not impact Celtic’s pursuit of Šporar, who remains a prime target.

In terms of January exits, it appears Jack Hendry’s miserable time at Parkhead could be nearing an end, with Hearts keen on the out-of-favour defender.
