Celtic lost their second consecutive Glasgow Derby at the weekend, something that not many had expected to happen this season, especially when you consider how inconsistent this Rangers team has been. They have done well against the Hoops though and Brendan Rodgers has been given something to think about. The results might not have an effect on the title race this time around, but they could very well do if repeated in the future.
Of course, Celtic's defeat was not the only talking point coming out of the game at Parkhead. The Rangers players' antics made the headlines as well.
They seemed to anger the Celtic fans with their actions after the Rangers scored their late winner. Now, the Hoops have gone on to release a statement regarding the matter.
The statement that has been put out by the club on their official website goes on to read:
"With regards to the match at Celtic Park, we can also confirm that the Club has raised concerns regarding members of the away team engaging with Celtic supporters with the relevant authorities. "
It remains to be seen what comes out of this. At the end of the day, it did not have any effect on Celtic's performance against the Rangers though. That was all their own doing and it is what matters the most.
While the Rangers were coming off 120-plus minutes of football against Fenerbahce in midweek, it is Celtic who looked more tired of the two teams at the weekend. They went into the break a couple of goals down.
Now, they do deserve credit for showing a lot of character in the second half and drawing things level, thanks to goals from Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate. At that point, it felt like the Hoops might just go ahead and turn the game around completely. But instead, the Rangers managed to find a late third goal and that ended up deciding the game in their favour at Parkhead.
