According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Como 1907 head coach Cesc Fàbregas wants to recruit his former Chelsea teammate Nemanja Matić (36) from Olympique Lyonnais this winter.

The Italian outlet writes that Fàbregas ideally would like to bring both Matić and Manchester City’s Máximo Perrone (21) to the newly promoted Serie A side. Fàbregas’s Como sit only a point above the relegation zone after a record of four wins, six draws, and eight losses. The hope is that bringing in an experienced player like Matić would allow the team to avoid the drop in the second half of the season.

Lyon’s financial struggles could open a way for Como to recruit the Serbian midfielder. There is a sense that all players are on the market for the French side for the right price following their sanctions from French football’s financial watchdog (the DNCG) which provided the club with a transfer ban and a provisional relegation.
