The 2024/25 Champions League semi-finals are set, following a pulsating couple of nights in the last eight.

Read on as we take a look at what went down in the second legs of the quarter-finals.

Guirassy’s hat-trick not enough for Dortmund against Barcelona

Barcelona were defeated 3-1 at Borussia Dortmund, but edged through to the semi-finals 5-3 on aggregate.

Dortmund had Barcelona on the back foot right from the outset. Serhou Guirassy converted an early penalty with the minimum of fuss.

He made it 2-0 four minutes after the break to give Dortmund real hope, but Remy Bensebaini’s own goal five minutes later settled Barcelona’s nerves.

Guirassy completed his hat-trick with 15 minutes to play, but overcoming a four-goal deficit from the first leg proved to be a step too far.

This was Barcelona’s first defeat of 2025, and they will have to shake this off before their semi-final clash against Inter Milan.

PSG weather Aston Villa storm to progress

Paris Saint-Germain just about held on to progress 5-4 on aggregate, despite losing 3-2 at Aston Villa.

Following a 3-1 win in the French capital last week, PSG were well on their way to a comfortable night when goals from Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes put them 2-0 ahead inside half an hour.

Villa pulled one back through Youri Tielemans before the break, but the hope of scoring three more to turn things around still looked slim.

John McGinn made it 2-2 with a long-range strike after the break, before Marcus Rashford set up Ezri Konsa to finish into the bottom corner.

PSG were thankful to Gianluigi Donnarumma, with the goalkeeper making several big saves. The visitors held on and will now face Arsenal in the last four.

Arsenal stand firm to get past toothless Real Madrid

Arsenal produced a defensive masterclass at the Santiago Bernabeu to beat Real Madrid 2-1 on the night, and 5-1 on aggregate.

Bukayo Saka missed an early penalty, with Thibaut Courtois saving his attempted ‘Panenka’.

The referee pointed to the spot at the other end when Kylian Mbappe went down under pressure from Declan Rice, but this was overturned following a VAR check.

Saka put Arsenal ahead in the 65th minute, before Vinicius Junior gave Madrid renewed hope a couple of minutes later.

However, Gabriel Martinelli capped off a famous night for Arsenal by running through in the third minute of stoppage time and slotting home to seal the victory.

Inter edge past Bayern at the San Siro

Inter Milan withstood late pressure from Bayern Munich at the San Siro to hold on for a 2-2 draw and progress 4-3 on aggregate.

Following a lively but goalless first half, the game sprang to life on 52 minutes, when Harry Kane produced a fine low finish to level the tie on aggregate.

Inter came roaring back with goals from Lautaro Martinez and Benjamin Pavard to take control once again.

Eric Dier equalised on the night with 15 minutes to play, cutting the deficit on aggregate to one and setting up a grandstand finish.

Kane and Kingsley Coman fired over late in the game, while Thomas Muller was denied a fairytale moment by Yann Sommer.
