Blackburn Rovers defender Clinton Mola is currently the subject of interest from another Championship side, according to a report from the Lancashire Telegraph.
The 21-year-old was one of six signings made by Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side during the previous window, with his arrival and the addition of Dominic Hyam helping Rovers to replace Darragh Lenihan and Jan Paul van Hecke.
Lenihan had left on the expiration of his contract to link up with league rivals Middlesbrough, whilst van Hecke returned to Brighton and Hove Albion and has been kept in the Seagulls’ first team following an impressive loan spell at Ewood Park.

Unfortunately for Mola, he has only made four league appearances so far this season with his game time being limited by the likes of Hyam, Daniel Ayala and Scott Wharton and a recent illness.
Joining on loan from Stuttgart, there’s an option for Tomasson’s men to recruit him permanently but it doesn’t look as though they will be triggering that clause at this stage and he may even leave Ewood Park this month amid interest in the defender from a league rival.
his parent side would need to recall him before he can seal a move elsewhere and it remains to be seen whether the interested side step up their interest in the 21-year-old.
The Verdict:
Mola has not only played in central defence but also as a left-back, with his versatility likely to come in handy if injuries come into play between now and the end of the campaign.
And this is why Blackburn may want to keep him at Ewood Park for now despite the fact he hasn’t played much, with this depth potentially crucial to their chances of finishing in the top six.
However, they have plenty of time to recruit a replacement if they did let him go and this is why they should be prepared to let the 21-year-old depart if he’s desperate to make an exit.
The defender should certainly be looking to push for a move away because he can’t rely on injuries and suspensions to win more game time. At his age, he should be looking to start every week.
Whether Blackburn are willing to let him go or not though may depend on whether this interested side sits in the league table – because they won’t want to lose him to a potential promotion rival despite the fact he hasn’t played much.
