WSL Full-Time were informed of the announcement via an official club press release from The Addicks this morning.
The move further enhances Charlton Athletic’s support for their women’s team as they look to progress towards being a Barclays Women’s Super League club in the future.
In preparation for next season, Charlton Athletic’s ownership group will invest a six-figure sum in a new hybrid-stitched pitch at The Valley. The club will also receive a £750,000 grant from the Premier League Stadium Fund towards the cost of the work.
Speaking following this morning’s announcement, Charlton Athletic’s co-captain, Kate Longhurst said “I think it’s huge for us. We’ve had good crowds when we’ve played at The Valley, we’ve enjoyed playing here and the pitch is second-to-none.
“It allows us to feel a bit more professional in what we are trying to do and achieve and this is the place that we can do it.”
Charlton Athletic have already staged a number of games at The Valley this season. They sign off the campaign against Southampton in SE7 on Sunday. Tickets for that match can be purchased by clicking here.
