Enzo Fernandez has shown signs of improvement this season, but the World Cup winner will be disappointed he ranks in the top for one concerning statistic.
Fernandez arrived at Stamford Bridge for a then British record of £106m from Portuguese club Benfica, and stood out in his first six months in Graham Potter’s struggling side.
The Argentina international struggled last season, and it was revealed he’d been playing the majority of the campaign with a hernia issue, which he underwent surgery on and missed the final few games of the season.
The 24-year-old is actually one of the more experienced players in Chelsea’s squad which says a lot about the current situation at the club.
Fernandez is part of the club’s leadership group, and has captained the side on multiple occasions in the absence of Reece James.

The Argentine has shown signs of improvement this season, with Maresca impressed by what he’s seen from the midfielder.
Fernandez came back into the side after the November international break and put in a series of impressive performances as he went on run of scoring and assisting.
Given Romeo Lavia’s continual injury issues Fernandez has been a mainstay in the side recently, and looks the fittest he’s looked in a while.
However, for all his improvement Maresca believes he can still do better, and the midfielder does rank in the top five for one concerning stat.

That should be of concern to Fernandez, who has improved the defensive side of his game, but there’s evidently still room for improvement in that aspect of his game.
