Noni Madueke admitted he was really proud of himself after making his England debut against Finland at Wembley on Tuesday night.

The 22-year-old, who was part of Lee Carsley’s successful under-21 side which won the Euros in 2023 was one of a number of that side to be called up to the senior squad for the first time.

Madueke didn’t feature against the Republic of Ireland on Saturday but got his big moment as he replaced Bukayo Saka in the second half.

Madueke proud of himself after England debut

The winger made an impact as he assisted Harry Kane for his and England’s second goal on his 100th cap following a brilliant passage of play.

Madueke has really matured as a player over the last 12 months and having finished last season strongly he’s carried that form into the new season and has four goals and one assist in five appearances for club and country so far.

Speaking after his debut the former PSV man admitted he was really proud of himself and said he can’t wait to get back to Chelsea and keep performing.

Madueke assisted Harry Kane on his England debut against Finland at Wembley.

“It was great to make my first appearance for the national team and I am really proud of myself,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“It has been a great week, the boys are great and the staff and players have made me feel welcome.

“I tried to go out there and be direct and cause problems. I got an assist for Harry on his 100th appearance, it can’t get much better than that. It is fitting that Harry got both goals, it is his night.

“It is fun to work with Harry because if you give him the ball in the box he is going to get you an assist – Stonesy [John Stones] has been great with me and Dec [Rice], Jack [Grealish] – it is a great group of lads.
