Chelsea are very much ‘still there’ to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer, according to a report that’s come out today.
The news comes after Chelsea went down 2-0 against Newcastle United away from home on Sunday lunch time in a crucial game for the race for Champions League football next season.
Chelsea needed to win this game as much as Newcastle did, but a first half sending off by Nicolas Jackson did not help their cause. Enzo Maresca has admitted that Jackson now needs to learn from this situation moving forward.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher now believes that Chelsea have a big problem after this defeat with just two games remaining of the season and the reality being that The Blues need two wins to guarantee a place in the Champions League for next season.
Chelsea want to sign a new striker in the coming summer transfer window, and the main one who has always been there and always been linked is Victor Osimhen of Napoli.

However, it seemed like that ship had sailed and it has no chance of happening. But, according to Chelsea insider Simon Phillips, it might still be on.
Writing on his Substack site today, Phillips said:
‘SPTC Sources have heard this week that Chelsea are ‘still there’ for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
‘The player has always been keen to join Chelsea regardless of Champions League football, and he is still keen now. The deal was worked on hard last summer, and the belief from our insiders is that his wage demands would not be as astronomical as the media are portraying.
‘Chelsea can easily go back into the deal and our sources believe that it wouldn’t even be that difficult to come to an agreement.’
