A major update on the ongoing negotiations between La Liga giants Atlético Madrid, and Premier League counterparts Chelsea, has today been forthcoming online.

The info comes courtesy of Atlético insider Rubén Uría (via Sport) and centers on João Félix’s potential move back to Stamford Bridge.

It is of course now common knowledge that Chelsea have opened talks with their Atlético counterparts, over the possibility of bringing frontman Félix back to the club, on this occasion on a permanent basis.

After the Blues opted to pull the plug on their move for Samu Omorodion at the last minute, the name of Félix returned to the fore, as discussions over Conor Gallagher’s Madrid switch continue to rumble on, too.

To date, Chelsea’s efforts have proven fruitless, with the brass at the Wanda Metropolitano continuing to demand a premium fee for a player who, on his day, is more than capable of changing a game courtesy of a moment of individual magic.

If the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, though, then the Londoners’ pursuit appears to be moving in the right direction.

As per the aforementioned Rubén Uría, Todd Boehly and co. have tabled a fresh offer for Félix’s signature.

The proposal in question comprises €46 million up front, followed by a further €5 million in bonuses.

This is a sum considered as altogether more agreeable to the Metropolitano hierarchy than Chelsea’s original bid, with it therefore concluded that:

‘Atlético de Madrid and Chelsea are close to closing the sale of the Portuguese striker.’
