Chelsea have completed the signing of striker Mayra Ramírez from Levante, with the Spanish club confirming the Blues have paid a world record transfer fee.
The deal is worth €450,000 up front with a further €50,000 available in bonuses.
The previous record deal in the women’s game saw Keira Walsh move from Manchester City to Barcelona in a deal worth up to £400,000 (€470,000) including bonuses.
Ramírez, 24, has 30 caps for Colombia and joins after Chelsea lost star striker Sam Kerr to an ACL injury.
“I am very honoured to be a part of Chelsea,” Ramírez told the club’s official website. “To be part of such a huge club is a dream come true and one I’ve had since I was a little girl.”
The forward netted 20 goals in 34 Liga F appearances for Levante and has five goals in her international appearances.
