Chelsea can’t miss on pure entertainer wanted by Man U for €25m | OneFootball

Chelsea are pretty well stocked with attacking talents at the moment, with more set to arrive in the summer and even more next summer.

In fact, there are a massive backlog of players we will need to sell, as listed here. That’s the club’s priority for this summer, whether they make it into the Champions League or not. Once that’s done, they can start to think about what might come next.

A player who we’ve been linked to a lot over the years without anything too concrete surfacing is Rayan Cherki, but his name has come up again recently, and a few factors are combining to make this seem the most convincing links yet.

After bursting onto the scene as a 16 year old, Cherki has finally really hit a season where he has become consistent and a key player for Lyon. He was superb as they battled to a draw against Manchester United in the Europa League last Thursday. He’s scored 10 goals and has a ridiculous 18 assists in all competitions this season already.

CaughtOffside say he is a top target for both us and United, who were clearly impressed by what he conjured against them last week.

Reasonable asking price could make Cherki irresistible for Blues

Cherki players in Cole Palmer’s position, and given Estevao Willian is arriving this summer, we’d say we’re not focused on another player like that, but given the insatiable appetite for acquisition this ownership has, nothing is impossible.

If Lyon are willing to accept a reasonable price – and we heard talk of fees as low as €25m last summer – it might prove just too juicy a deal to be turned down.

A true entertainer with otherworldly technique, we’d love to see us take a punt on the rising French star just to see how he gets on.
