Chelsea close in on €15m move for Saint-Etienne midfielder Mathis Amougou | OneFootball

Chelsea and Saint-Etienne are close to reaching a total €15m agreement in principle over Mathis Amougou (19) before the transfer window shuts today in France and the UK, according to Fabrizio Romano. Chelsea have been known to be interested in the midfielder for the past few weeks. However, they have been unable as of yet to secure a deal for the talented teenager. The Italian reporter understands that the deal has entered its final stages with minor details still needing ironing out.

Amougou has gained some significant game time for Les Verts this season and was a regular starter for the first few months of the season under previous head coach Olivier Dall’Oglio. It remains to be seen whether or not the France U19 international will be allowed to continue his development at BlueCo-owned Ligue 1 Strasbourg. Foot Mercato understands Amougou could be loaned to Strasbourg for the remainder of the 2024-2025 campaign.
