Chelsea complete stunning re-signing of João Félix | OneFootball

Chelsea have completed the signing of João Félix from Atlético de Madrid for a reported £46.3m.

The 24-year-old Portuguese international has returned to Stamford Bridge after spending the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan at the Blues, and has signed a six-year contract, with the option of an additional year.

The two clubs have been in talks for several weeks over a deal to send Conor Gallagher to Madrid, however the move was delayed due to Chelsea’s attempt to sign Samu Omorodion collapsing late on.

As an alternative, Atlético offered them the chance to re-sign Félix, which has now happened in line with Gallagher’s move to Diego Simeone’s side being confirmed.

Félix leaves Atlético after falling out of favour in recent years, having spent last season on loan at Barcelona. Having joined for a club record fee in 2019 from Benfica, he made 135 appearances for the club, scoring 34 goals and winning a sole LaLiga title in 2020/21.

His previous stint at Chelsea saw him score four times in 20 appearances.
