Reports in the Italian media have indicated that Nouwen was with AC Milan earlier today undergoing a medical. The player is expected to join The Red and Blacks on loan.
Nouwen is in need of some regular game time with the player having struggled for playing opportunities with parent club Chelsea in the first half of the season. The Dutch international defender has made just four appearances for The Blues so far this season with two of those outings coming in the form of starts.
Chelsea signed Nouwen from PSV Eindhoven in summer 2021. The player was a regular in the team during the second half of last season but her game time has become more restricted since Kadeisha Buchanan arrived at the club over the summer. Given the level of competition for places in the Chelsea side, it seems unlikely that Nouwen would get a run of games in the second half of the season and it makes sense for the player to go out on loan, especially with the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 on the horizon.
Nouwen’s potential loan move is yet to be confirmed, however, the deal seems to be virtually signed and sealed according to those Italian media reports.
