Chelsea are prepared to do whatever it takes to win the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface according to reports.

The Blues opted against signing a striker both last summer and in January, and have paid the ultimate price with Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu now both injured.

Chelsea pursued Victor Osimhen for the majority of last summer but failed to agree a deal with the Nigerian, whilst a deal for Samu Aghehowa collapsed at the last minute.

Chelsea determined to win race for Boniface

David Ornstein expects Chelsea to sign a striker this summer, with the Blues believed to be leading the race for Liam Delap, whilst they are also said to have interest in Benjamin Sesko.

However, there appears to be another name on the list and Caught Offside have reported the Blues are prepared to do whatever it takes to win the race for Boniface.

The report adds Chelsea are likely to face competition from Manchester United and Arsenal, whilst Newcastle could move if they lose Alexander Isak.

Boniface played a key role for Bayer Leverkusen scoring 21 goals as they won the double and went unbeaten domestically last season, with the Europa League final the only game they lost.

The Nigeria international has scored ten goals in all competitions this season, and almost joined Saudi side Al Nassr in January, before they opted for Jhon Duran.

The Blues desperately need a striker and have been previously linked with a move for Boniface, who is under contract with the German champions until 2028.

The 24-year-old would be a great addition to the Chelsea squad, given his physical presence and goal scoring capabilities, although it’s unclear how much Leverkusen would demand.

It certainly appears Delap is the more likely signing at this stage, but with the summer window still a few months away from opening anything is possible.
