Chelsea eye summer move for Aaron Ramsdale

Only Southampton have committed more errors leading to shots (35) and errors leading to goals (12) than Chelsea in the Premier League this term.
The Blues have been dire at the back, and their lack of confidence in the rearguard is aptly reflected between the sticks.
Chelsea goalkeepers Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen are guilty of making schoolboy mistakes, and it is clear that the West Londoners need a new guardian between the sticks.
Per the report, Chelsea have held a long-term interest in Ramsdale and could make a concrete offer for his services, depending on how things play out in the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old shot-stopper will jump at the chance to sign for Chelsea, especially if Southampton suffer relegation this term, which is looking likely.
However, Chelsea will be downright silly to swoop for a goalkeeper as underwhelming as Ramsdale in our view. The Blues need a reliable keeper between the sticks, and signing one about to suffer his third relegation from the Premier League would be an abysmal decision.
To make matters worse, Ramsdale is not an upgrade on what Chelsea have. He is just as error-prone as Sanchez, and his positioning is questionable. Arsenal signed him for £30 million in 2021 and ditched him for the more reliable David Raya.
Chelsea might not even have to spend big to solve their goalkeeper crisis, considering Djordje Petrovic is returning from a successful loan at Strasbourg, where he has caught the eye in Ligue 1, keeping three consecutive clean sheets at the time of writing.
Petrovic has recorded goals prevented of 3.22, and Ramsdale’s 0.33 pales in comparison. The Chelsea keeper has also improved drastically with his feet in France and looks ready to take the mantle at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have wasted massive sums in the transfer window and need to be more prudent with their funds. With Petrovic in the ranks, there is no need for a dud like Ramsdale.
