Blues frequently struggled with availability issues last season
Chelsea are once again fearing for Reece James after a pre-season hamstring injury to the club captain.
The right-back missed their final friendly against Inter Milan and looks certain to sit out Sunday’s Premier League opener against Manchester City.
Elsewhere, Chelsea look to have a largely fit squad - certainly full of options after another busy summer.
Omari Kellyman and Djordje Petrovic both missed the tour of the United States but look to be back in contention. Issues for Axel Disasi and Nicolas Jackson have also cleared up.
Reece James has seen his last two seasons disrupted by lengthy injury problems and has already been dealt a blow this time around.
Late last week, reports suggested the Blues skipper had suffered a new hamstring problem and he sat out the draw with Inter Milan on Sunday.
However, he told reporters post-game that the injury was “not bad”. Nonetheless, it remains unclear when he’ll return.

One of Chelsea’s young new signings, Kellyman remained at Cobham over pre-season to overcome an unspecified injury.
The 18-year-old played his first minutes of pre-season last weekend in an U21s friendly with Brentford, which saw him come off the bench.
Potential return date: August 2024
Serbian goalkeeper Petrovic was also left out of the United States tour due to injury.
It is unclear whether he is back to full fitness, however, given Chelsea’s plethora of keepers and reports that Petrovic is being lined up for a loan move away.
