The Blues travel to Broadfield Stadium to contest a Barclays Women’s Super League fixture with The Seagulls on Saturday evening.
Only Lauren James has scored more league goals for Chelsea than Terland has netted for Brighton & Hove Albion this season. Blues boss Hayes acknowledges the fact that Terland is a striker in form and she says that her side have been made well-aware of her goal threat.
“She’s excellent, she really is,” Hayes said when discussing Terland’s form in the pre-match press conference. “She takes her chances and she’s a prolific goalscorer, no question.
“When we played them the first time at Kingsmeadow, they countered on us to score the first goal. The way that they commit numbers forward and link with Terland in particular means that they have a really good attacking threat. We’ve been showing that to the team to prepare them.”
Hayes went on to say that she expects Brighton & Hove Albion to commit numbers to their defending, however, the Sussex club won’t be content in sitting back.
She said “It’s a Brighton team that you’d expect to play in a back-five but they’re very aggressive going forward. They commit numbers into the box and the wing-backs play nice and high. They’ve got their threats at their ground that we are all-too-aware of.
“We need to focus on ourselves. It’s a tight turnaround, we’ve only had one day of preparation but we’ve got all of the details that we needed and we are ready.”
Chelsea’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Brighton & Hove Albion kicks-off at 5.30pm on Saturday evening.
