In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Chelsea have reignited their interest in Palmeiras midfielder Luis Guilherme. It has been revealed that the Blues are showing interest in recruiting the Brazilian winger later this year.
The 18-year-old is a product of Palmeiras’ academy and has done well to prove his worth as a reliable performer for their senior team. Guilherme has already made 40 senior appearances for the Brazilian club thus far, netting one goal and grabbing one assist in various competitions.
The Brazilian prospect has caught the eye at times in the opposition half by averaging 1.7 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Brasileirao. He has even distributed possession relatively well after making 80.9% of his attempted passes in the Brazilian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Guilherme is under contract at Palmeiras until the summer of 2026. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Blues to sign him on the cheap at the end of this campaign.

Guilherme is a technically gifted footballer who can create some inviting chances for others around him in and around the opposition penalty area. He is a great dribbler with the ball as well and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball on the right wing. The Brazilian wonderkid is versatile enough to play on either flank or as an attacking midfielder down the middle if needed.
At 18, Guilherme has already established himself amongst the best young talents in Brazilian football. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level. Still, there is no denying that Guilherme is a prospect to watch out for in the future. Therefore, Chelsea would do well to lure him to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Guilherme has the ceiling to become a success story at the West London club in the long run. However, Mauricio Pochettino would need to be patient with his development as he is still quite inexperienced in top-flight football. Guilherme could even help Chelsea compete for some major trophies over the next decade. Thus, Pochettino should think about recruiting him later this year.
