One Chelsea reporter who was at the game yesterday has detailed exactly what Reece James did from the sidelines to step up as captain.

Chelsea breezed past Aston Villa with probably their best performance for years, winning 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on the day.

James is of course nursing his latest injury and is out of action for Chelsea right now, currently being forced to watch on from the sidelines only. But as club captain, he trying to do what he can to help make a difference during games when he is not on the pitch.

There was a Chelsea reporter, well actually probably more than one, at the game yesterday, and he noticed some things that James did in the game to help out and do his best to encourage his Blues team mates.

‘James was full of smiles, took time to sign a few autographs for fans just behind the manager, and made it a point to embrace every player after the final whistle. He even had a word with Wesley Fofana, who had picked up a hamstring injury.’

It’s obviously great to hear that James is keeping his spirits up during another tough period that he is going through as a Chelsea player. He’s struggled with injuries a lot during his career and they just continue to come in.

At least by being there on the sidelines he can make his presence felt and be part of the group that celebrated a really good win in front of their own fans in the Premier League yesterday.

Let’s hope that James is soon back in action again for Chelsea soon and can sustain a period of fitness and minutes in the team.
