Chilwell and Sterling left out of squad for Servette

Sterling was surprisingly omitted from the squad against Manchester City which prompted his representatives to release a statement expressing their surprise at the omission and that they would be seeking on clarity on his future.

It’s no secret the Blues are open to moving Sterling on and would like his lucrative contract worth in excess of £300,000 per week off their books.

It’s unclear what market there is for both Sterling and Chilwell but the duo were dealt another blow in a clear indication they need to find a new club after being left out of the squad for the first leg of the Europa Conference League play-off against Servette.

In normal circumstances this wouldn’t be a big deal but given the situation surrounding the pair it’s clearly another message being sent to them by the club.

The England internationals are two of the highest earners at Chelsea with Chilwell reportedly on around £200,000 per week, but it’s unclear what sort of market there is for the duo.

The Blues could find it difficult to move either player on given their wages and it’s unclear how much Chelsea value them at.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the situation develops between now and the end of the window, but they will almost definitely have to take a pay cut at any potential new club whislt remaining at Chelsea would likely mean playing very limited minutes.
