Chelsea FC is showing serious interest in securing Borussia Dortmund’s rising star Jamie Gittens this summer. According to Sky Sports journalists Patrick Berger and Florian Plettenberg, talks between Chelsea and the player’s management are already underway behind the scenes, as the Blues move quickly to beat competition for his signature.
Chelsea are prepared to significantly improve Gittens's current salary, offering him a deal worth between €6–7 million per year — more than double his reported €3 million earnings at Dortmund. The club believes that a talented English player like Jamie should be playing in his home country, and view him as a key part of their long-term project.
While Borussia Dortmund would prefer to keep Jamie, they are reportedly open to selling for the right price. Although initially valued at close to €100 million, sources suggest that a fee between €50 million and € 60 million could be enough to tempt the German side into a deal. Carney Chukwuemeka could also be involved in the deal.
The British side is keen to move swiftly, aware that other top European clubs are also monitoring the young Englishman's situation. Bringing him back to England would not only bolster their squad but also align with their strategy of investing in young, homegrown talent, like the Blues have done with Cole Palmer, for instance.
There is still some uncertainty regarding a deal right now, but it would be a negotiation to keep tabs on during the summer for Borussia Dortmund. More updates are expected in the coming weeks as negotiations continue.
