WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blues this evening.
It is believed that Chelsea have paid a significant six-figure fee to secure the services of one of the world’s best midfield players.
The 27-year-old returns to the Barclays Women’s Super League after spending the last two-and-a-half years playing her football in Spain. In her time as a Barcelona player, Walsh won no less than eight trophies including back-to-back UEFA Women’s Champions Leagues and finetwork Liga F titles.
Prior to her time in Spain, Walsh enjoyed a successful eight-year spell at Manchester City. The player was a Barclays Women’s Super League title winner with The Cityzens while she also won four Subway Women’s League Cups and three Adobe Women’s FA Cups.
On the international stage, Walsh has been capped on 80 occasions by England. She was a UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 winner with the Lionesses while she has also played a key role in the nation’s other successes during head coach Sarina Wiegman’s tenure.
After completing her move to Chelsea, Walsh said “You look at the history of the trophies Chelsea have won and I’m an ambitious player and person, so for me, it is a good fit.
“Speaking to Paul Green, Sonia [Bompastor] and Camille [Abily], I just got such a good feeling from them. It has been really positive. I want to play for this club and fight for the badge.”
Chelsea completed a deal for Walsh prior to last night’s transfer deadline.
