Chelsea Women are closing in on the signing of Levante striker Mayra Ramirez to replace injured Sam Kerr.

According to sources in Spain, Ramirez has reached a verbal agreement to join Chelsea after the Blues saw off competition from Lyon for the 24-year-old Colombian forward.

The signing of Ramirez would be a major boost for Chelsea as they target domestic and European trophies in Emma Hayes’ final season in charge.

Kerr has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury.
