Chelsea will hope to extend their lead at the top of the Women’s Super League table when they host Manchester United this weekend.

The match was initially supposed to take place in October but was postponed due to the London club’s involvement in the Champions League. This will be the final league game before the November international break, which begins next weekend.

Chelsea will be without long-term absentees Sam Kerr, Mia Fishel and Sophie Ingle as they continue their rehabilitation from ACL injuries. Defender Kadeisha Buchanan was the latest member of the squad to be added to that list after she tore her ACL during the league match against Liverpool earlier this month.

Lauren James is also expected to be sidelined until after the November international break. Niamh Charles underwent shoulder surgery back in September, but was back in first team training ahead of their midweek Champions League clash against Celtic.

United will be without vice captain Ella Toone for this weekend’s trip to Chelsea after it was confirmed last week she suffered a calf injury prior to their league game against Leicester City. Marc Skinner revealed at the time she was set to be sidelined for their games against Everton and Chelsea, while she was also left out of Sarina Wiegman’s England squad for the upcoming international break.

Anna Sandberg returned to the squad against Leicester last week and replaced Gabby George just after the hour mark, but Leah Galton wasn’t involved as she continues to nurse a short-term issue.

Chelsea vs Man Utd score prediction

It’s hard to see anything other than a Chelsea win in this fixture. Bompastor’s side are in outstanding form this season and they more than proved their title credentials with a 2-0 victory over rivals Man City last time out in the league.

Although United got back to winning ways against Leicester, their form has been somewhat inconsistent across the early weeks of the season. It will by no means be straightforward for Chelsea, and it’s unlikely to be another 6-0 thumping, similar to that of the last league clash between these two teams, but the London club will undoubtedly have enough to see out the win.
