Next weekend’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between Chelsea and Manchester United has been postponed.

The two clubs were scheduled to meet at Kingsmeadow on Sunday 6 October 2024 but the game will now not go ahead.

The decision to postpone the fixture has been taken to protect the health of the Chelsea players. The Blues are scheduled to play their first UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage match against Real Madrid just two days’ later. All parties worked to find a resolution but it has been determined that Chelsea and Manchester United will now meet at a later date.

The Women’s Professional Leagues Limited (WPLL) released a statement on the postponement this afternoon which read: ‘Due to the scheduling of Chelsea’s first UWCL group stage game, the BWSL game between Chelsea and Manchester United due to take place on Sunday 6th October has been postponed. We apologise for any inconvenience to fans. In this instance, we have to put player welfare first and we will announce a new date for the fixture in due course. We thank the clubs and Sky Sports for their understanding as we work on a resolution.’

A date for the rearranged fixture will be agreed in due course.
