Sevilla have gotten off to a tough start to the season. With two draws and two losses from four games, the Andalucian outfit certainly hasn’t seen things go their way in recent weeks.
There have however been some hopeful signs, one of which being Nigerian forward Chidera Ejuke, who has shown glimpses of what he may be capable of if he is given the opportunity to do so.
The 26-year-old finds himself amongst the league leaders in La Liga when it comes to several key attacking metrics, showing he can compete with the best should his chances start converting to goals.
As per Relevo, Ejuke is third in the league in terms of shots created (18), behind only Lamine Yamal (28) and Vinícius Júnior (25).
Meanwhile, he is also top of the table when it comes to shots created per 90 minutes, with 8.14, while Lamine Yamal is second on 7.14.
He is also third in terms of successful dribbles completed, with 12, which places him just behind Lamine Yamal (15) and Kylian Mbappe (14).
These stats portray just how key of a player Ejuke is for Sevilla’s attacking output, and hints at what could take place if his teammates could find some form.
As the Nigerian continues to earn his way into García Pimienta’s plans, it will be interesting to see if Ejuke can begin to make contributions which back up these key statistics.
