Chivas have confirmed that goalkeeper Antonio âToñoâ RodrĂguez will miss the rest of the regular Apertura season after undergoing foot surgery on Saturday.
A medical report on the Flockâs official website stated: âAntonio was successfully subjected to surgery for decompression of the left peroneal nerve; his prognosis for returning to competition is 4 to 6 weeks.â
The 29-year-old started the season as number one for Los Rojiblancos, but subsequently lost his starting position to RaĂșl Gudiño.
He played all of the opening five games, conceding seven goals and keeping two clean sheets.
RodrĂguez last featured competitively in the 3-0 home defeat to LeĂłn on 19 August, and has not even made the bench for the last six outings.
Chivas will take on Toluca on Sunday in desperate need of a win.
The Guadalajara outfit currently find themselves outside the top 12 sides that will progress to the post-season action.
