The hosts took the lead just 16 minutes into the game when Ryan Yates fired a low drive home from the edge of the penalty area, only to be pegged back seven minutes later thanks to a trademark Jamie Vardy goal.

The two sides exchanged blows in an end-to-end first half, but neither could find the advantage and they headed into the break level.

However, the second half was dominated by Chris Wood, as the Premier League's most inform striker provided a clinical finish two minutes after the break after a poor pass from Harry Winks.

On the hour mark, he took advantage of some more sloppy defending from the foxes to loop a header over Mads Hermansen and leave Leicester City with a mountain to climb.

They could not find a way to breach the Forest backline though, with their effort from Vardy the only shot on target that Steve Cooper's side managed across the 90 minutes as they slipped to their first defeat in three games.
