The Scout’s verdict is in ahead of Gameweek 25 of Fantasy Premier League as City host Newcastle.
Pep Guardiola’s side welcome the Magpies to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 15 February, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 (UK).
We enter the fixture looking to bounce back from our narrow 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League Play Off first leg which handed Los Blancos a slender advantage heading into next week’s deciding fixture in Spain.
But we’ll have to be at our very best to collect three points this weekend against Eddie Howe’s side who have won 12 of their previous 14 matches in all competitions.
In September’s reverse fixture at St James’ Park, Josko Gvardiol’s opener was cancelled out by Anthony Gordon’s second-half penalty in a 1-1 draw.
City’s clash with Newcastle is one of a swathe of league matches this weekend and FPL managers will be looking to bolster their squads ahead of Friday 14 February’s 18:30 (UK) deadline.
Read the Scout’s latest report below…
Phil Foden (£9.3m) is one of the standout Manchester City option for Gameweek 25.
From Gameweek 17 to 24 he returned seven goals at a ratio of one every 92 minutes for a total of 68 FPL points.
Among the midfielders to have made at least six appearances, only Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) has a better goal ratio than Foden. Salah is also the only midfielder to have registered more attacking returns (12) than Foden’s nine in that time.
In the last eight gameweeks Foden’s shot accuracy is 78.6% – no midfielder who has had at least 12 shots in that time comes close.
The nearest comparison to Foden is Bruno Fernandes (£8.3m) whose shot accuracy is 66.7% - but the latter also takes penalties.
Alexander Isak (£9.5m) is opponent’s Newcastle’s biggest threat. Only Erling Haaland (£14.7m) has scored more goals than Isak among FPL forwards.
Elsewhere, Bournemouth's Dango Outtara (£5.1m) and Crystal Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.3m) are low-owned gems who offer great potential in Gameweek 23.
Outtara registered 21 points in Gameweek 23. The midfielder scored a hattrick, picked up a clean sheet point and all three bonus points.
No forward has produced more FPL points (29) in the last four Gameweeks than Mateta, who has scored six goals.
