According to a report by L’Équipe, Clément Turpin will be the referee chosen to oversee this weekend’s Classique clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille at the Parc des Princes, (20:25 CET). The 42-year-old referee has already officiated 30 times this season, and will be taking charge of his eighth Classique, with PSG winning on six occasions and OM earning one draw. Les Olympiens will be hoping to show they’ve made progress since the 3-0 win for Les Parisiens at the Vélodrome earlier this season. Luis Enrique’s PSG, however, face a Champions League Round of 16 second leg clash against Liverpool tonight before preparing for the match against their rivals this weekend. There have been no major worries from OM in recent games officiated by Stéphanie Frappart, and Thomas Léonard, since the controversy surrounding Jérémy Stinat, who sent off defender Derek Cornlelius to the indignation of Marseille president Pablo Longoria, who accused Ligue 1 referees of ‘corruption’ – subsequently receiving a 15-match suspension.GFFN | George Boxall
