Scorers: Henry 55′; Ibañez 28′, Hurtado 40′, Guzmán 75′
Club América fell behind in the 28th minute as Nicolás Ibáñez put the visitors ahead against the run of play. Avilés Hurtado had picked up the ball deep in his own half before running the length of the field to set up Ibáñez.
Twelve minutes later, Hurtado went from provider to scorer as he received the ball about 30-meters away from goal. He took one touch to move the ball out of his feet before dispatching an unstoppable curling effort beyond the diving Guillermo Ochoa.
América struggled to regain control and were lucky to not fall further behind before the break.
The second half started better for the hosts though, pulling a goal back in the 55th minute. Henry Martín was found in the penalty area by Diego Valdés, the 29-year-old Mexican striker held off his defender and lashed his strike into the roof of the net.
Not 10-minutes later Henry had a chance to draw his side level. Time seemed to stand still as the striker slowly made his way to the edge of the six-yard area but his wild toe-poke all but completely missed the ball.
It proved to be a vital moment as, in the 75th minute, Pachuca put the game to bed. Luis Chávez stole the ball deep in Las Águilas’ half to set up Víctor Guzmán who rounded Ochoa before finishing between the defender’s legs.
This win sees Pachuca climb into second place. Meanwhile, Los Azul-Cremas sit in 16th, having only picked up four points from their opening six fixtures.
