Despite their domestic struggles, Club Brugge are leading the way in their Europa Conference League group. Ronny Deila’s side are top of their group with seven points from their opening three games, having beaten Swiss side Lugano 3-1 away from home last time around. Goals in Zurich from Eder Balanta, Andreas Skov Olsen and Hans Vanaken were enough for the Belgian’s to take a three point lead at the top of the group.
Prior to the start of the competition, many would have predicted that Club would be joined by Turkish giants Beşiktaş in fighting for the top two places. However, they lost their previous game to Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt 3-1, meaning both Glimt and Lugano are level on four points. Should Beşiktaş get revenge in Turkey, a win for Club Brugge could really cement their place at the top of the table. This would mean just a draw from their final two games would be enough to progress to the next round of the competition.
Club are coming into the game following a disappointing loss to Union St Gilloise at the weekend. Lugano also suffered defeat at the weekend, going down 3-1 away to Lausanne.
